Founded in Tokyo in 2016 as a creative company that
creates new bonds between music and listeners.
COTODAMA was the first Asian company to be awarded a prize at the SXSW accelerator, and was selected for Abbey Road Red, Europe's leading music technology incubation program.
Through our actions, we hopes to contribute to the
development of lyric culture and
create a more diverse and richer musical experience.
The most prominent feature of the lyric speaker is that it is equipped with “Lyric Sync Technology,” which was developed to display the lyrics of the played music in motion graphics for the first time in the world.
It is built-in as an engine that automatically estimates the impression space based on the lyrics and displays the lyrics with the optimum motion graphics and fonts.
It is a unique technology that delivers an unprecedented musical experience to you, with calming lyrics in a soothing motion and uplifting melodies and lyrics in a dynamic motion.

Sound Quality
Our goal was to create a feeling as if a singer were singing in the room, with acoustics full of musicality and pure voice. Tom’s Lab, a master of high-end speaker systems with deep knowledge and experience, was in charge of the basic design based on our ideas.
Because these speakers are designed to let you savor the lyrics, we have created a sound that makes you feel as if the artist is spelling the words for you in the same space.
Lyric Speaker Canvas
Created a beautiful sound with a rich frequency range by using two boards to form a large baffle plate that reflects sound efficiently. In addition, adopting the rear-reflection method which uses the interior wall as the resonating part of the speaker when it’s placed near a wall, adds a uniqueness to our sound quality.
Speaker caliber: 1x full-range speaker, 1x 3 inch woofer
Speaker output: 32W total.
Frequency response: 40Hz ~ 20kHz
Lyric Speaker Box
Designed a 2-way bass reflex speaker capable of reproducing a wide range of sound. The cabinet is made of an acrylic plate that minimizes excess distortion and vibration, resulting in a speaker with beautiful sound reproduction.
Speaker caliber: 1x 3 inch woofer, 1x 0.75 inch tweeter
Speaker output: 32W total.
Frequency response: 60Hz ~ 20kHz
Lyric DJ spins words
COTODAMA conveys the essence of music through lyrics in DJ culture. “rekordbox Lyric,” co-developed with Pioneer DJ, enables DJs to not only mix the sounds but to visualize the lyrics of the music played by the DJ.
We bring a new way of enjoying music to the DJ scene, allowing DJs to “spin the words” as if they were telling a story.
The numerous award-winning lyric speaker has been named to Abbey Road Red, Europe’s premier music technology incubation program.
Karim Fanous, Innovation Manager at Abbey Road Red, said:
“With streaming, music services have been evolving at an astonishing pace. More music is available and more accessible than ever before, but lyrics haven’t kept up. We’ve lost the feeling of running our fingers over release artwork and reading the lyrics while listening, singing along or mouthing the words when we feel like it. The brilliant team at COTODAMA are on a mission to evolve our lyrical experiences. Abbey Road Red explores the world’s most innovative technologies empowering music and culture. We are happy to partner with COTODAMA as the company moves forward with new experiences and products for their lyric visualisation technology.”
